VLT — Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 17, 2026
VLT is a personal collection manager published by Rank Rebels LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the VLT mobile app and website collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions: [email protected].
The short version
- Your collection lives on your device by default. Cloud sync is optional and only happens if you sign in.
- We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
- To estimate values, item text you enter (name, category, notes) is sent to our AI provider for a valuation — never used to train models.
- You can delete your data at any time from within the app, or request full deletion by email.
What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your collection entries — item names, makers, categories, quantities, prices you paid, dates, notes, locations, and any photos, receipts, certificates, or warranty documents you add. | To catalog, value, organize, and produce records of your collection. This is the core function of the app. |
| Account email (only if you choose to sign in for cloud sync or sharing). | To create your account, sync across devices, and send optional alerts you turn on. |
| Basic app/diagnostic data (e.g., that a request succeeded or failed). | To keep the app working. We do not build advertising profiles. |
We do not require your name, phone number, precise location, or contacts to use VLT.
Where your data is stored
- On your device: by default, everything you log is stored locally on your phone. If you never sign in, it does not leave your device except for the value lookups described below.
- In the cloud (optional): if you sign in, your entries and media are stored in our hosted database and private file storage so they sync across your devices. Only you can access your own data; media is served through expiring, signed links.
AI valuation & catalog
When you request a value estimate or use catalog auto-fill, the relevant item text you entered (such as name, category, maker, and notes) is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), to generate an estimate or match. This text is processed to answer your request and is not used to train AI models. Estimates are informational and are not a certified appraisal.
Sharing your collection
VLT is private by default. If you create a public share link, only the specific collection view you choose becomes viewable by anyone with the link. You can turn sharing off at any time, which disables the link.
Service providers we use
- Anthropic — AI value estimates and catalog lookups.
- Supabase — cloud database, authentication, and private file storage (only if you sign in).
- Resend — sends the optional emails you turn on (e.g., value alerts).
- Apple / Google — if you choose "Sign in with Apple" or Google, they authenticate you; we receive only what's needed to create your account.
- Cloudflare — hosting and delivery of the app and its services.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms; we do not authorize them to use your collection data for their own marketing.
Your choices & rights
- Delete data: remove any item in the app, or use Records → Reset — clear all data to wipe your vault on the device.
- Delete your account & cloud data: email [email protected] and we will delete your cloud-stored data.
- Turn off sync/sharing/alerts at any time in the app.
- Depending on where you live (e.g., California or the EU/UK), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us and we'll honor applicable requests.
Data retention
Local data stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Cloud data is kept while your account is active and deleted on request or after prolonged inactivity.
Children
VLT is intended for adults managing personal collections and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Security
Cloud data is access-controlled so each account can only reach its own records, media is served via signed URLs, and secrets are held server-side. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it in the app.
